Molecular structure

BPC-157 is a linear chain of 15 amino-acid residues connected by peptide bonds. Its sequence contains four proline residues, including a consecutive run of three prolines. Proline's cyclic side chain restricts backbone geometry, affecting the conformational space available to the peptide.

The molecule contains several ionizable groups. Aspartic acid residues contribute carboxyl groups, while lysine contributes a positively charged side chain under typical aqueous conditions. These groups influence the peptide's net charge, hydration, and interactions with other molecules.
